Yes, it’s true. 51st State has officially served its last meal in San Francisco. We are not fans of saying goodbye, but we cannot go without saying thank you to the customers, friends and food truck colleagues that made our time on the road worth every second.

First things first, we are leaving because we are moving on to other opportunities that came our way. It was not an easy decision but ultimately, it was the one we chose. Our dedication to making great food was strong until the very last day and it was bittersweet to see so many people lined up for what they didn’t know at the time was going to be their last Mochiko. I’m sure there’ll be people that are mad they didn’t stock up on Brunswick stew either. But, that is the nature of the food truck.

Mobile food inherently carries a certain elusiveness that makes for a kid-like summertime “it’s the ice cream truck!” mentality. For those who ate our food and loved us, you caught us. For those that missed us, you should have run outside faster. We felt a unique pleasure of being part of the food truck scene in San Francisco at an early stage and we’ve seen it blossom around us.  To this, we say Godspeed to the entrepreneurs that are adding to an ever changing culinary world. And as the road slips away in our rear view mirror, we say as the sun sets in the west we bid you a fine farewell.
